3.4.3.
The LOV module, mounted on a six position valve, comprises a 10 μL column, a flow cell with a 1cm light path, formed by two 600 μm quartz optical cables, deuterium lamp and Ocean Optics Spectrophotometer. A micro SI instrument with a six-position valve, and a high precision 1 mL syringe pump, capable of generating high flow rates (up to 200 μL sec) for column renewal, as well as low flow rates (1 to 5 μL sec) used for sample metering, analyte on column capture and elution. The bypass from port #3 to the back of the flow cell (see green tubing on the photo) served as a convenient means for removing air bubbles from the flow cell.
